About us
Hands On Minds On Children's Art studio is a place for the arts and children to meet. The studio is designed to stimulate children's individual creativity while exploring their hands and minds with a large variety of art materials. At the studio we believe the process of making art is more important than the product. It is the process of experimentation with art materials, discovery of techniques, and the manner of which one puts it all together that offers each artist self-confidence in problem-solving and promotes pride in their work. Actively participating in hands-on minds-on projects helps young minds develop a visual and kinesthetic style of learning, which can guide the student "early on" in discovering the countles connections around them which makes all learning a colorful and creative experience. The components that make up the studio are weekly theme-based programs for ages two to grade 5, Saturday open studio hours, monthly workshops/events, and artrageous birthday parties.

EDUCATORS
Jen Hogan, owner and instructor, is an art educator with a passion for children and bold, energetic creations - which go hand in hand at the studio. She has earned a B.S. in horticulture from the Ohio State University and a B.A. in art education from Castleton State College. Jen has 10 years of experience in teaching art at both the private and public educational setting and is dedicated to opening young minds in celebrating their greatest of gifts — confident creative minds.

Lindsey McFarland received a BFA from Green Mountain College in 2007. She has taught classes at Frog Hollow Craft Center in Manchester, interned at Blue Moon Clay Studio in Greenwich, NY, and served a year with AmericCorps in Rutland. And for the past year she has been with Hands On Minds On and guiding children into the arts. Lindsey enjoys coffee and clay and the simple pleasure art brings into our lives.

PHILOSOPHY
Hands On Minds On is a philosophy...
involving children with hands-on minds-on projects to encourage creative and independent thinking and problem-solving
exploring a variety of art (media) materials while discovering the countless ways of applying and mixing media to create fun art
facilitating developing minds in applying their visual sense and creativity while connecting it with all other matters around them
focusing on self-expression, originality, and celebrating the notion that “a picture can say a thousand words”
stimulating the imagination and broadening a child’s perceptions and dreams beyond the expected capabilities
art is something that families can share together
